Phone screen flashes occasionally

My brother has been having this problem with this phone for a while and we are unaware of a solution. He has an HTC Desire 610 and occasionally its screen will flash when you touch it. It will turn off for the time that you have your finger on the screen and when you take it off, the screen will turn back on. This happens for only small periods of time, but it would be nice to have it eliminated for good. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
