Hello forum people,

So I'd like to build the best computer for gaming that I can for around 1000$~ CAD. It would be used with a single monitor at a minimum resolution of 1080p but higher if possible. Keyboards/mice, OS and monitors aren't necessary, really just need a functioning tower.

So far i think I did an alright job at assembling something decent but obviously since it's my first all the advice I can get is welcome.

So this is what I have:

Case 110$
DIYPC Gamemax-W White Dual

The stock Intel cooler should be fine with a locked cpu. You can always add an aftermarket cooler later on if it gets too noisy.

The EVGA GS is a great psu and will handle a locked i5 and a R9 290.

Case is personal pref. The 200R is a good budget option though.

I really think that you should go for 16 GB ram. And I would go for the i5 4690K or maybe the 4670K that I had (I was very satisfied with my 4670K, easy to OC as well)

Thanks for the tip, I should let you guys know that overclocking isn't something that I want to do with this PC

Well, then just go with the CPU that has the highest GHz  ^_^
