Weird HDD Glitch?

Go to solution Solved by Flight1sim,

Should i replace it or see if anything happens again? i personally dont think the issues are connected, it think i may have knocked the HDD power connector when i was reseating the fan connections

yea that may have been a problem. Use the PSU for a while longer, see if more issues occur

Okay, so earlier today i noticed my case fans were not spinning, (all) so i thought maybe the stupid NZXT fan controller thing that comes with the Phantom 530 is dead. so i reseat all connections, still nothing. then i try to adjust the speed with the switch and there- They come to life. so i put side panels back on etc and go back to normal, about 10 mins ago (about 9 hours after the fan issue) i try to launch CSGO and it says "App already running" so i exit it steam, and re open it. BAM all  my games are uninstalled. All of them, just gone. so i google the issue and a post on the steam community says go to the steam folder and delete some folders. As i go to the drives page, i notice my WD Black 1TB is gone.... so i do the same, re seat connections. and now its fine. Should i be worried or is it probably the fact maybe i knocked the connection earlier and something nudged one of the connectors causing it to not show up? I'm 13 and am scared my HDD is on the way out. lol

Hey Apathyy,

I would take the HDD out and connected to an already working computer to make sure it's functioning correctly. Use a diagnostic tool to check its health and have a backup of all your important data.
I would recommend to use WD Data Lifeguard Diagnostic tool on the WD Black drive. Post back with the results. :)

Well 2.5" drives don't require additional power so you can use a simple SATA to USB cable, 2.5" enclosure or a docking station.
For 3.5" desktop drives you need additional power besides the USB cable. Usually 3.5" enclosures have external power. Also docking stations for 3.5" drives have separate power cables to power the drives. :)

Pretty much any docking station would do the job. Also if you have an enclosure with a power cable, you can also use that.
Plugging in the drive internally directly to the motherboard and the PSU on anotehr computer should also work. :)
