Hello.

I run a home server which needs to be accessible on 2 different networks. My home network, where the server is located at, and my other home network (isolated from the first). I have figured that the best way to do this is to use a VPN. I tried setting up OpenVPN, but some of the batch files for Windows do not work. So, I'm looking for a VPN server that is free, requires minimal configuration, minimal router setup, full Windows support for the server and cross-platform support for clients (mostly Windows, but Android and iOS would be nice for accessing RD). What is the best for me?

All I can say is OpenVpn or a hardware solution most highend routers and NAS have options for a VPN.

My router can set up an OpenVPN server, but it lacks help documentation so I have no idea how. And my server is built using standard PC hardware running Windows Home Server 2011.

explain this a bit better

why do you need the vpn..whats your setup like there

Okay, so I live in 2 places. The server is in one of them. I need a VPN so that computers on my other home can access the server.

hmm..interesting router...seems to be open source

are you using the adsl modem as part of it?

Nope. this is just a gateway between the WAN and LAN. The modem is a separate unit. And even though the firmware is based on OpenWRT, I cannot make any modifications to it as I'm renting this router and might have to return it to my ISP.
