You won't be running a 100 slot server off that machine. But it'll do for ~30 - ~40 players, reliably.

I'd recommend getting a 212 EVO cooler and OC that chip a bit, since Minecraft is single threaded - an OC will help a fair bit tbh.

Shot through the heart and you're to blame, 30fps and i'll pirate your game - Bon Jovi

Take me down to the console city where the games are blurry and the frames are thirty - Guns N' Roses

Arguing with religious people is like explaining to your mother that online games can't be paused...

a 8320 would be better as a server.

Minecraft is single threaded you plonker. OP plans to use this as a dedicated Minecraft server.

Modded?

Yes, but the more mods you add, the worse the performance. Meaning you'd need to lower the player cap.

A small SSD would be nice for load times btw.

Also, how good is your internet connection? That is another limiting factor.

Forget to add, there will be at the most 5 players on at once. Average of 2-3 players online at one time. We are all within 5 miles of each other. I have 20down/2up.

Tbh you'd be better off renting a server, your upload is terribad, for hosting a server.

It'll only be like $5 a month.

That host i linked also allow mods etc. Says so under the FAQ.

Since I will be running Crackpack 2 with 192 mods, the server will take a significant amount of RAM. This can ramp the price up fast. Do you have any hosting recommendations?

That host uses dual Xeon E5 2620 processors with 128GB ram. I'm pretty sure they can handle some mods. Also, if you look at their plans, it shows how much hard drive space you get for mods - the 12 player one offering 512mb.

Actually people arn't getting hot on the stock cooler with the g3258 even at 4.6 overclocked. My friend has his running at 4.4.

Not arsed mate, the Intel stock cooler is terribad. Even running stock, it's worth replacing with an aftermarket cooler, and the 212 EVO is a cheap, and proven choice.

There are many sorces and I have personal experience with the unlocked g3258 overclocking with the stock cooler. Theres no need to get a hyper 212 evo.

I never said a 212 EVO is needed. I simply recommended one. Also, what is a sorce? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
