Download the .iso file for a linux distro. Then make sure you have an open drive. Now put the distro on a usb and boot from it in safety mode. Just setup and you're all set.

24 fps for that "cinematic" feel

After a couple weeks of behavioral sciences at my school I can easily conclude my parents need to grow up.

not quite.  If you are putting the on a usb you have to burn the ISO to the disk.  I believe you also need to convert the ISO to and IMG (at least I have to for it to work with both mac and pc systems)

1. Download the ISO / IMG File from the Distro Site of your choice

2. Download Rufus Or LinuxLive USB Creator ( http://rufus.akeo.ie or http://www.linuxliveusb.com )

3. Format a USB Thumb Drive in FAT32 Non-Bootable

4. Select your ISO / IMG file in Rufus of LinuxLive.

5. Select your USB Drive in LinuxLive or Rufus (if not automatically selected)

6. Click start if in Rufus. Click Create / The Lighting Bolt if in LinuxLive.

7. Wait until finished.

8. Re-boot your computer

9. In your BIOS, select the USB DRIVE as your boot device. Restart PC

10. Follow installer steps.

11. Re-boot PC.

12. Back in your BIOS, set the drive you installed Linux as your primary drive.

13. Reboot PC.

ALL DONE!

(Please note, if using OpenSUSE, you will need to get the SUSE Studio ImageWRITER. You can skip the FAT32 Formating if using OpenSUSE)
