New Laptop for uni/work?

Hey 

 

So at the moment for university (college to Americans) and work i am using a surface pro 1, one of the first to hit Australia. While it has lasted me a long time faithfully, its time to upgrade.

I have had my eyes on the XPS 13 (http://www.dell.com/au/p/xps-13-9343-laptop/pd) but its WAY more expensive in Australia than the US. In US $849 its US to US$1182.08 in Australia.

 

Price is the issue

With a Buget of $1000AUD

what is the best laptop/2 in 1 with windows 8.1 pro/ thin as possible, long battery, life touch screen and as much power as i can get for the buget.

 

ANY answers would be much appreciated!!!
