So, I could use another PC, be it for a weak server, a HTPC, or a weak folding/boinc/mining machine. I don't need it to be much, just needs to work. Anybody know a good place to pick up old, maybe secondhand PC parts?

Just a guy who peaked at building back in the days of the GTX 980. If you see me here, assume i have technical knowledge akin to a committed hobbyist builder back then. If something's changed, you'll need to tell me(nicely plz). I'm probably asking for help with the modern build scene since I have no clue what's going on.

The rubbish dump.....Actually I'm serious. I'm not sure about your country, but most tips here have a section for computer hardware. Yes it's shitty components, and a whole heap of HP, and dell, But you did say you didn't need much. Most people who buy that shite have no idea if one component has failed, or the entire rig.

Pretty much what everyone else has said: Craigslist, Thrift Stores, and any local electronics dumping locations (if you're willing to work through the gross).

I put an ad on Craigslist starting back in Feb and I actually acquired quite a bit of older computers/components for free. I'm working on putting together all kinds of older systems that still work just fine. The hardest part to find is HDDs, so I would say expect to have to purchase those.
