OC the R9-295x2?

I'm planning to build a PC with an R9-295x2 inside it. I was just wondering, is it worth overlocking this beast of a GPU? I already know it's default performance is amazing but should I go over? OCing also comes with risks such as; freezing computers and overheating the part being overclocked. Should I know about any other risks and should I OC the theoretical R9-295x2?

It's always worth OCing to try and sqeeze every bit of performance out of your gpus as possible.

No risks at all, all that will happen is your drivers will crash then recover, and it has a face plate and a AIO cooling both cores, so no overheating.

 

Basically just pump voltage at it and kick it in the balls with core clock and memory clock.

Max temp you should be aware of is 95C. You can overclock the AMD R9 295x2, and if you see it fit to get some extra FPS I would say why not. If you overclock it correctly and test stability, you won't have any issues. The cooler should be up for the task.

The GPU's will stop overclocking by the time he hits VRM limits.

 

They are binned for power efficiency so they usually don't OC very well.

I've overclocked ALOT of different GPU's and CPU's and I've only killed one CPU and it was intentional.

Those come from people with no clue. As long as you take the time and have opatience you won't damage your graphics card. Also, don't use furmark or the MSI Kombuster versions of furmark to stress test your 295 x2, even my GTX 970 G1 Gaming had its VRM get damaged by it, and it was at +150MHz core (+200MHz actual as it has a +177MHz factory OC instead of the normal +127mhz), +12mv core voltage, +450MHz memory, 112% TDP.

It's water cooled by a AIO, all you can do is add new fans to the radiator.

 

I'd get a Gentle Typhoon and slap it on the rad.

Max temp as in that's the maximum safe temp. From everything I've seen, the card loads at around 65-70C.
