So my computer pretty much froze a while ago and it started to repair my HDD and it took absolutely ages and when it finally was done it booted up up until the login scene which is where I just get a black screen with a moveable cursor. The problem however is that I have my exam projects atored on this computer and forgot to take a backup (I know) so I would ask if anyone can please help me!

Get a new HDD, Install a new OS and try to salvage your old files from the rekt drive. WIth a bit of luck you can manage it, if the drive is not 100% dead.

Else, you need profesional help.

Planning on trying StarCitizen (Highly recommended)? STAR-NR5P-CJFR is my referal link

That's the only thing possible? :(

No, but it's the SAFEST thing possible.

It sounds like the drive is going bad, so any action like CHKDSK could push it over the edge.
