Hey guys,

so I was just trying to play a game of Counter Strike, but when I joined the game I had 300+ ping. The server was hosted in the mid-west, where I live, so that's not the issue. I checked pingtest.net and I found that I had 12% packet loss, and jitter of up to 150ms.

My internet setup is my motherboard's built in ethernet, connected to powerline adapters which runs into the apple AirPort. My ISP is Comcast in Chicago.

What can I do to fix this?

I would normally tell to call your ISP to get a solution, but I've heard comcast has an awful costumer assistance service. You can try with another PC, if the problem perists, the problem might be your router or your ISP, call comcast to check if the problem is between your modem or try switching the router

If you are using ethernet over power then that's your issue... get a longer cat6 and try to just run that

That's not really an option for me at the moment.

Use Wireless if possible then, any ethernet over power solution will give you high ping, especially if it's an older building...

You can get a 20-30foot cable for under $15 AUD, buy the materials and just crimp it yourself (its super easy to do).

I used to get really good pings, like 30-50ms, that's the whole problem

Any sort of electrical circuit fault in your house can result in this.

Noise on the power line ( eg dirty power ), Old wiring , bad connections , corrosion etc, power adapters injecting noise onto the power line, adapters being to close to emf sources , ev power adapters , tv,s , microwaves etc

The more these factors effect your power line the lower your connected sync rate will be and the slower the throughput / speeds will be
