AMD branding prices?

I noticed that AMDs cards are not anything new and are rebrands of rebranded cards (7950/280/370) and they're not bringing any new architectures to the cards so it's nearly the same as just buying the old cards unlike nvidia it seems that AMD is really not targeting their cards to developers and more towards video editors and miners, which is really sad, nvidia is going to stomp on them. (Even with their overpriced cards)

The reason I post this is because a 7950 is way more than a 280 and 280 will probably be more than the 370, and retailers wont let the old cards go cheap (Why lmao?) Noones ever going to buy an older version of a already rebranded card. Can't quite blame AMD but the retailers for this one

(Basically Nvidia is gonna wreck AMD with a less powerful card because they actually target developers, as stated in many gamewords articles etc)

RIP AMD in the gaming market

Nvidia has done the same thing for years. This is nothing new. Trying to make it sound like AMD is the only one that does it.

They do it for the lol's.

Actually, Nvidia in recent years have started to segment their releases, cutting the upgrade cycle in half so that people buy new cards more often. Its funny how this has turned into people wondering why AMD only release new cards every couple years. Its almost laughable in fact.

Yeah, I suppose if you're into used parts they would be a dream since they're the same architecture, unfortunately im not

who said used im fine with getting rebrands.. same with the people that bought gtx 770's and gtx 760's

Thats that. If you need to get in touch chances are you can find someone that knows me that can get in touch.

With the 700 series, NVIDIA brought more new cards to the table than AMD did. (780, 780 Ti, Titan, Titan Black, and Titan Z)

lol, those are all the same chip (GK110).

It's still using a new GPU. AMD produced 3 cards using the Hawaii GPU.  They're not rebrands. A rebrand is like a 770 and a 680. 770 is virtually identical to the 680. Uses the exact same core.

Split personalities perhaps.

If you include the Titan and the Titan black, then AMD brought these cards to the table for this generation: R9 290, R9 290X, R9 295x2, R9 290 8GB, R9 290x 8GB, R9 285.

In terms of new architecture, AMD just doesn't split it up as often as Nvidia. The entire 600 series + 700 series were all Kepler. And for the people mentioning the R9 300 series, everything you're quoting as of now are rumors. There is no official word out, so we can only speculate. The R9 380 might be cut down fiji, but it also might be a bigger Tonga chip, or it could be the rebranded Hawaii. We don't know yet, so including these in a list of "rebrands" is really silly.

still not worth it since nvidia are marketing dicks

They're going to dominate not in power but in optimisations and market share

I didn't mention anything about the new series. I'm not going to continue arguing about this as it's a waste of time.

I never said that any of it is "worth it", I literally just listed the new releases they had for the R9 200 series. As for Nvidia "just winning" in market share, that's exactly where the consumer comes into play. I'm pretty fed up at this point with Nvidia for several reasons, the chances of my buying a Nvidia GPU for my next build are fairly low. If that happens to enough people their marketshare will drop, obviously. Nothing is fixed in place, AMD is coming up with a new GPU that apparently uses bleeding edge memory technology, something that Nvidia will only catch up to in a year or so when Pascal releases. One year of amazing high res performance could do a LOT in terms of brand-image and market share.

The question is what matters more new silicon or performance/price ratio i.e. if 5 year old silicon performs as well as brand new silicon but comes in at a lower price does it matter that its 5 years old.

AMDs doing the smartest thing they can in their position, focus their R&D expenditure on a couple of high end cards to stay competitive with the oppositions offerings and rebrand older cards based on the, currently, most cost effective process node to offer a selection of price/performance competitive low-mid range cards giving them a strong sales point with no R&D cost.

all they have to do it more driver and game support, then they can compete again

In all fairness, all of the cards you listed are using the GK110 core. NVIDIA brought more cards to the table, but each card was the same on a different level and with a different purpose.

e.g. First the Titan with double precision and 6GB of VRAM, then the same Titan watered down with no double precision and 3GB of VRAM, the GTX 780. We then got the fully unlocked GK110 with the slightly beefed up GTX 780 Ti, then VRAM was doubled and double precision was unlocked in the Titan Black. Finally, dual fully unlocked GK110 GPUs that we call the Titan Z.

if you have to insist you think for yourself, i'm not going to believe you.

They're not classified as re-brands.
