Error file "/boot/grub/i386-pc/normal.mod" not found

Go to solution Solved by QwarkDreams,

I could narrow it down a bit more: Fedora 21 works. I only have this problem with distros based on Ubuntu/Debian. But since it works with Fedora I don't care about Ubuntu.

Not really solved, but I can install an OS again.

@matjojo Thanks for the help, though!

That's the text I get when I power up my netbook.

Before I got that I was installing Ubuntu 14.04 on the SSD and shut it down. When I powered it up again I had USB flash drive with an .iso file of Lubuntu 15.04 on it (created with USB Installer) I got this text -> http://i.imgur.com/XO1ALPT.jpg

When I powered it down, removed the USB flash drive and powered it up again I got this text on the screen -> http://i.imgur.com/tILevad.jpg

I tried to look it up but the problem is that the SSD is formated not (ext3 with Gparted on a USB flash drive) and has some unallocated disk space on it (1012.34mb). The solutions I found were more confusing than helping (I suck at using Linux) and I don't know how I can fix this since there is no accessable data on the SSD anymore (~237GiB are free space and the unallocated space can't be changed).

Is there a way to save my SSD or did I fuck up?

you can remake the .iso file on another pc and try again i'm pretty sure that's a problem with a corrupt file

I already tried it several times. The strange thing is even when I swap out the SSD with my old 2.5" HDD I get the "SYSLINUX..." message but when I remove it I get this -> http://i.imgur.com/X93YGlx.jpg

Not sure where the cause of this problem lies anymore....

i am almost sure you did this, but i'm asking anyway, have you set your bootdisc to the usb?

Yes I have. I set it to this a while ago and left it like that. SATA is on position 2, USB on 1.

Also, I just created a bootable USB flash drive with Windows 8.1 (also with USB Installer, the same program I used for the Linux distros) and it works fine (I just don't have a spare key).

This problem seems to be exclusive to Linux live USB.
