CPU Overclock Sability

Go to solution Solved by Lays,

You could honestly just start folding all the time like you plan to, and if it ever crashes you can add a bit more voltage.

Generally I test for like 2 hours, if it passes then I just start using it normally, and if it ever crashes I add .5 mv.

Hey all,

I just have one question: How long should a stability test last for an overclock? Ive been using AIDA 64, and its been going on for about 10 Minutes.

For anyone who is wondering, Its a Core i7 5820K. I set the Multiplier at 40 and core voltage at 1.1 volts. I plan to run folding at home overnight on it almost everyday. Oh, and I get a temp of max 55C

So how long should I run this for?

The longer the better, so at least 24 hours in general. If possible, go for 48. It never hurts for a little bit of extra testing, but if you can't do 48 hours, that is completely fine, just 24 is OK generally

Yeah, I got it working up to 4.5 GHz. I think thats my comfort zone because If I go higher Ill have to add more than 1.35V which kicks out a TON of heat. Cheers!
