Does anyone agree with me if I say that DirectX12 is gonna have just as big of an impact on GPU performance as Mantle? I think its better for budget builders tot buy an nvidia gpu, because of DX12 coming out soon.

I dont think youll be able to run DX12 and Mantle at the same time, will you?

DX12 is coming out for both amd and nvidia gpus so there will be equal performance increases for both the red and the green team.

An AMD cpu has no place in a solely gaming build, end of.

it's rumored DX12 will be better than mantle. Which is a nice thing.

But afaik the nvidia DX that's in the 970 and 980 isn't really DX12 because it wasn't finished enough when they got released, not sure if it's true.

And if you really want DX12, just wait until it's officially launched, and wait for the cards that officially support it.

If you want my attention, quote meh! D: or just stick an @samcool55 in your post :3

@Peking Duk

We can assume that in some games it may increase performance with the proper drivers and support, and it will be available for both AMD and NVIDIA cards, so I don't really understand your second sentence.

P.S. don't forget to follow your own topics so you know when replies are added.

AMD Supports dx12 AND mantle AND possibly Vulcan.

So if nvidia performance goes up, so will Amds.

Because AMD cards usually have more raw processing power (hence being used for miningv) but less optimization. So I say dx12 will help and more than the green side

A lot of the performance improvements of DX12 match Mantles performance. In a PCPer interview with an AMD rep last year (if you believe this is true), the rep stated that Microsoft were delaying DX12 because they couldn't reach the performance iimprovements they wanted, so AMD engineers were sent to Microsoft to help them with the performance side of DX12, because of their prior experience with Mantle. Low and behold, earlier this year a direct side-by-side comparison of DX12 and Mantle both showed an 8x average improvement over dx11. The AMD rep never specifically said DX12 contains Mantle code, but considering the performance gains are so close, I would imagine there is truth to this story.
