Hi guys,

At the moment I have a i7-3770k and i'm planning on upgrading my pc to watercooling and getting a new GPU. Is there any point upgrading, I've been looking around and it doesnt seem like there is a lot of a performance boost. I know the longer I wait the better but I want to know what you guys think.

Thanks :)

You cpu is fine and you just need to get gpu power. Ivy i7 to haswell i7 is like 0% improvement for games anyway, once both overclocked.

No point in watercooling, if your pc supports dual gpus and have budget, you can go with dual quiet 970 and buy quiet fans. This will make difference in games. And quietness.

Whats your mobo and cpu cooler? OC that cpu.

buy two Noctua NF 12`s for that rad.

OC, there are guides, its easy. But even at stock i7 ivy is fine for games, it beats 4690k actually, so does sandy i7.

What is your current gpu? Your mobo support multiple gpu setups.

Hey sorry to bother you again but witcher 3 recommended specs are an i7 3770 does that mean that I will probs need to upgrade soon (like next year) to handle newer games?

very very unlikely. i wouldn't go with recommend requirements for cpu upgrade decisions. your cpu will handle games just fine for years to come. think about it, if game devs made games that required the latest cpu to run well, they would be severely limiting their potential market to sell to.

My rig:
CPU: i5 4690k 24/7 @4.4ghz (1.165v) Max 4.7ghz (1.325v) COOLER: NZXT Kraken X61 MOBO: Asus Z97-A   RAM: 16GB Crucial Ballistix Tactical   GPU: EVGA GTX 970 SSC   PSU: EVGA GS 650W   CASE: NZXT Phantom 530 HDD: WD Caviar Blue 1TB + WD Black 2TB
