dad's friend is wishing for a server build. he asked me for help.

i'm not really experienced in this type of hardware.

what's the difference between ecc ram and normal ram?

do motherboards matter when it comes to servers?

is the xeon e3 1231 good for a server?

he's wanting a hosting server for websites, games, and stuff.

if you can, the build (tower itself) is at a 700-900 budget in usd currency.

ECC RAM has the capability to correct errors that pop up in memory, which could cause a program to crash or the whole system to come down. For example, suppose a 0 in a memory cell became a 1. It would automatically be corrected to a 0.

Please don't suggest the Kingston V300. Something else like the 850 Evo or a Crucial BX drive would be far better.

Sig under construction.

The build does not even need an ssd. You dont need to spend more for something you really dont need.

Okay, you got me there. But my argument is that if you're going for an SSD, please go with a decent one.

For more money!!!!!!!!!!!
