Ok, so i made a thread the other day but it died, it was about my graphics card (Asus GTX 760) causing my computer not to start when it was in. Every one said it was the power supply but i had it tested and the guy said it was fine (but he didn't seem bothered by anything) so i tested it my self and the PCI-E connector was putting out 12.4v rather than just 12v is this the issue and has it fried the card? The computer in question is on, using the mobo for the monitor and the same PSU. so all other parts are ruled out (i think)

Specs:

PSU: Acbel 550w

CPU: AMD Phenom II X6 1035T

Graphics Card: Asus GTX 760

RAM: 8gb of i have no clue DDR2

Mobo: Am3+ got it from the dumb edition

The ATX specs state a tolerance of 5% on all voltage rails so that means 11.4V to 12.6V is within acceptable range.

Do you have a spare PSU? Find one that you know is working okay and try using that. Ask the repair guy if he has a good power supply you can use to test your system.

Btw, on the thread you linked, what particular part caught fire?

I don't have a spare PSU to test the system and the guy at the store wouldn't let my buy one and return it if it wasn't the issue.

Bring your system to the store and ask him if you could borrow a woking power supply and test if its the issue.

easier said than done given it is in a 900D (i know not much of a system to be putting in a 900D but the opportunity came up to purchase one at a discount and i planed on getting one for a upgrade so)
