Hey guys,

I'm having trouble choosing what card I should get for my build.

It's either the GTX 770 or the 7970.

I'm mainly going to be gaming but I want a card that could work well with Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and After Effects all from Adobe.

So, what card should I get? I know Nvidia is good for gaming and stuff but I still want a card that could perform well in the new Adobe programs. I just want a card that I know will still do good in the future with the newer software that come out.

Thanks! Looking forward to some replies.

If you're doing a lot of work with Adobe, go for the 770, if not, the 7970 should be fine.

Is that not the other way around ?

If you work in the Adobe CS6 line then nVidia GPU's are better for the fact that they can bring Cuda enhancements.

I think Adobe utilizes Cuda which is nvidia, OpenCL would be amd I believe

Adobe is starting to use OpenCL but it isn't as integrated as Cuda

Sorry, I was wrong.

If you're heavy on Premiere/After Effects, get the 770 for the cuda acceleration.

If you're lighter on the two (or at least for now), get the 7970 on sale for about $350 and it will perform neck to neck with the 770.

Adobe is adopting OpenCL which may put the 7970 on a level playing field with the 770 with premiere/AE. Photoshop uses OpenCL so either cards would work there.

Simply put--If gaming is the primary goal and Premiere/AE is not as important right now, get the 7970. Otherwise, get the 770.
