Processor & Graphics Card Help

Go to solution Solved by Elven,

I wasn't sure where to post this as it's about a processor and a graphics card but I'm having trouble choosing a processor and graphics card.

Heya,

It depends on what your intentions are. If you gaming and do light work on your computer. I would recommend a low end i5 Intel CPU i5 3470 or the AMD FX-6300. If you wish to overclock, go with the 3570k or or the AMD FX-8350.

If you do very heavy video editing or transcoding you want to get a multcore/hyperthreading CPU. either the 3770k (on the z77 platform) or the 4770k (on the z87 platform) or the FX-8350 from AMD.

With the GPU, any nVidia card from the 700 series (760, 770, 780) would do great. Again, it depends on the usage. for gaming, at least the 760 (preferably the 770 or 780) or the Radeon 7950.

Hope this helps  ^_^ ,

I'm going to be doing a lot of video editing and I'll need something so I can still play games at a good FPS even while recording. For a graphics card, should I get AMD or nVidia? And for a processor, AMD or Intel?.

So what do you think? I'm swaying towards AMD for the APU which I'm pretty sure will help with encoding videos but I've read that nVidia's Cuda cores help as well. Can anyone help?

Whats your price range, as for the processor try to get an i7 even if its not fourth gen. Anyways you wouldnt want to get a nvidia card as the cuda stuff helps with rendering in quite a few adobe suites.

In prespective my i3 2120 renders a 20min 1080p video in a 45minutes. An i7 will do it in 3minutes.

Thanks Elven. I've had a friend help me and your post has also helped me. My friend convinced me to go with AMD. Looks like I'm now a sucker for the red team. I'll be getting a 6 core AM3+ processor along with a Sapphire 7750 graphics card which may be upgraded in the future.
