This is the first PC I am ever going to make and I was wondering if I chose good parts or if I did something wrong. Any criticism would be nice. I can't really go much above $1500 so if you are going to suggest something keep that in mind.

Looks fine.

A nice cooler is not a good value for your build.  You will get way better value using that $93 to upgrade your CPU, rather than invest in a cooler.  The Intel stock coolers work just fine.

What would you suggest I use instead of a z97? (part of the reason I chose it was for the blue)

Usually the Z97 chipset costs a bit more than something like H97. One of the biggest draws of Z97 is the ability to overclock. But you also need a K-series processor for that, such as an i5-4690K. But then, that's already an extreme cheap motherboard, so I really don't think you stand to save all that much.

The cooler you've picked out is expensive and overkill. Something cheap like a Coolermaster Hyper 212 EVO would probably be enough for a locked i5, or the Dark Rock Pro 3 recommended above. If you really must have liquid cooling there's still cheaper options. Corsair's H60–H80i would all be more reasonable than the H100i.

Otherwise, looks to me like a fine system.

Personally I'd just use a Hyper 212 Evo. It's a locked CPU so you're only getting it for quiet anyway.

The liquid cooler won't be necessary for that processor and case. A nice air cooler (heat sink) will save you a fair amount of money that you could appropriate some where else.

How about this then?

Yeah I was thinking about that, thanks for telling me.  :)

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/wTfgxr Here :) I changed the peripherals also. I got Multi Color/RGB Mous and Keyboard to match the black/blue. A bigger better monitor and that's about it.

$1589 before rebates.  I would drop the Mech Keyboard and buy some $10 business keyboard for now.

no offense but those Logitech keyboard and mouse, Why? Cost more/same as the mouse and keyboard I chosen yet mine are RGB, Mechanical, plus are from better brands. The monitor is eh. I got one that has a great Reponse time and won't has as much blur reduction. You also put a stupid amount of storage. 1tb is plenty and a 240gb SSD can always be added later. You basically changed the color scheme but what if the OP wanted black/blue?

EDIT- Just relized you didn't even change the peripherals from OP but I still stick with the color scheme and storage question.

I'm gonna keep my original case and most of the parts for the blue/black design, however, I'm taking your advice on the speakers because the other ones may have been a bit over-kill.

DarkBlade, this is not a mechanical keyboard:  http://pcpartpicker.com/part/steelseries-keyboard-64145

The Logitech G502 is one of the best general gaming mice on the market.  Razer is not a better brand.  You are in the wrong place to spout your nonsense, sorry.

The rest of your post is just garbage.  Just stop.

@TheGamingWay  I picked the white case because it is on sale for $89.99.  The white will blend with blue/black of the interior, it is still coordinated.

@TheGamingWay I actually have a set of those for my second PC.  They really do a fair job at projecting sound.  Speakers are something you could upgrade later, but you would not need to.  Those are enough.
