Well, no, every advancement in technology is an advancement for humans themselves, kind of cheesy, but as long as AI is proven usefull and practicall, and humans maintain a complete control over it, I see no harm in it at all, in fact, bring it on! I'm looking forward to my robo-maid! (Hope she has incognito mode  ;) lol )

If we create a true AI that surpasses our intelligence, we might not be aware of its intelligence. People with a super high intellect often say things or do things that seem weird or even crazy to an average person, but in reality it's just going over their head and they perceive the genius person as stupid or "out there." I believe an AI that surpassed our intelligence would go over our head in the same way, and we would not understand unless we gave the AI the means to "dumb down" its thought process to our level.

...Ever since humans invented the first technology, we have used it to in a way accelerate evolution, not by natural selection, but by our own minds...

.... So will there be a point where our technology supersedes our biology...

Kudos for attempting to ponder these impenetrables.  But you need to be more rigorous in your own thinking before you will progress much.

Consider that, on the one hand, you (correctly) note that there is something about our minds that has detached us from the ordinary recognized processes of natural selection (Darwin himself noted much the same) but that you fail to accurately assess that our technology has already superseded our biology.  These are two sides of the same coin.

As but one example, consider that our ability to manage type I diabetes (among other illnesses) nows allows people with the disease to reach maturity and reproduce - thus passing on the predisposition to the disease.

But beyond this, probably the largest impediment to answering your concern is the simple fact that we still have not even decided what intelligence (or the human mind) actually is.  Only when we have solid ideas about that can we begin to simulate, much less replicate it.

If you are looking for a good (but challenging) read on the topic try Mind and Cosmos by the philosopher Thomas Nagel.

If you think about it though, while it's pretty subjective (cultural dependent), a lot of the stuff we consider inhumane are things that cause suffering in the end like torture for example. So in essence developing an AI such that in the future we may become slaves to it could be seen as inhumane. But I get what you mean though.

I was thinking more along the lines of an AI that's of the same competency level as us. That would me that due to the large computational power such an AI would possess, it would take no time for it to be smarter than us.

Highly unlikely because technology isn't advance enough yet ... The amount of thoughts , images , sounds , every thing that is perceived by us every day would need Terabytes of storage . In case we made drivers act like our brains , I don't think it's possible ... Also it took them 6 minutes to mimic 1 second of brain activivty so we're not there yet ...

... Life is a game and the checkpoints are your birthday , you will face challenges where you may not get rewarded afterwords but those are the challenges that help you improve yourself . Always live for tomorrow because you may never know when your game will be over ... I'm totally not going insane in anyway , shape or form ... I just have broken English and an open mind ...
