3570K outdated?

Go to solution Solved by FloRolf,

no you are fine. it'll even last you 2 years or more imho.

Does anyone have a good reason as to why the i5 3570k should not last at least another year or so before needing to be upgraded. I have had it for a while and it seems fine, but I am also horribly addicted to buying better PC components and I am trying rationalize not buying a new motherboard and CPU. I mostly just game and do school work on my machine.

The addiction to buying newer better parts is something that i feel maybe needs to be taken seriously ._. .

3570K is still awesome, dont throw money away upgrading stuff that doesnt need it, if you absolutely have to chuck money chuck it into a homeless persons hat or something.

Its absolutely fine. No reason to spend cash on something that wont bring huge gains in performance (for your usage).

Of course there is no reason not to buy something better if you want, you can always sell your 3570k, mobo etc.

Pretty much i agree with them since its an unlocked version. Sadly my I5-4670 (non k) is something that will last only 80% of the time a K version does so its time to upgrade for me :l when money comes.

I'm in a similar boat but with an older i5 2500k.

to me the cpu is on the verge as its starting to pop up as the minimum required cpu despite me being able to max those titles out.

the next 2 generations of Intel cpu are going to cost much more specially as ddr4 ram is required.

so I've decided to upgrade now to an i7 4790k. that mobo and liquid cooler will cost me about £450.

but I've already arranged to sell my current cpu, mobo, cooler and an old psu to my friend for £260 so my upgrade is only costing me £190, much more palletable!!
