1600$ x99 build

Hello guys,

 

So I recently made a post on water-cooling a build but decided to wait a year before doing that. So thank you to all that help. Now after a chat with a few folks I have a new Idea in mind. I want the cheapest x99 build possible. I want for base specs to be a EVGA 980 and 16 GB of RAM rest is up to you. (IPS monitor if possible under 6ms).

 

You probably ask "x99 and 980 for a cheap cheap gaming?"

 

Yes because I want to save as many parts as possible so when Christmas comes around I want to reuse and make my x99 water-cooled build. I also want to keep the 980 to sli and water cool.

 

I feel $1600 is good right?

You don't need X99 for gaming.

You can get Z97 that performs the same for cheaper.

But I recommend you go Z97. You can get a better performing build, with a better monitor.

@ProjectRED Hello & welcome (wicked name btw) I'd probably be best to orient your $1600 dollars to a more gamer friendly build. Personally I agree with @niofalpha X99 isn't quite needed unless you're going for more enthusiast features etc. Z97 would be decent enough. 

 

What would you intend to do with your PC? Maybe you'd like to buy an all out ROG build which fits your red name

If you want X99 well I guess I can't complain.

Thank you mate! I want x99 to last me my four years of college as a video editor with some good gaming on the side. Since i'm not editing 4k video I don't need huge amounts a RAM until the later years.  Also don't let video editing take the build. I want this to handle the best games if possible. And Red MB would be pretty cool

Sweet if you bought the X99 deluxe you could paint the heatsinks red & what'not. I think that DDR4 ram prices are still quite high. 2.5K video editing should be good.

Yeah 16 Gb is good, and I dont mind some paint. I just care about the cash lol
