Hey guys, I have an AMD 8320 and an Asus M5A99FX motherboard. I overclocked my processor to 4.2 GHz at about 1.24 volts. Now that I've overclocked it, I was curious if there was a way that I could change a setting in the BIOS to allow the processor to underclock and unervolt when it is idle. If anyone knows how to do that, I would really appreciate if you could let me know. Thanks a lot!

You can enable adaptive mode that will scale voltages if your board supports it

“When life gives you lemons, don’t make lemonade. Make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don’t want your damn lemons, what the hell am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life’s manager! Make life rue the day it thought it could give Cave Johnson lemons! Do you know who I am? I’m the man who’s gonna burn your house down! With the lemons! I’m gonna get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!”

4.2GHz at 1.24 volts? Those chips are fine upto about 1.45 volts, you can take it way higher! Just make sure your temps stay in check, max temp for 24/7 usage is 61 degrees, but during P95 it's okay if it goes higher since it will never hit such a load anyway.

Enable Cool & Quiet and C1E.

Yes, this.

haha yeah that was just a quick and dirty overclock. I'll probably take a little higher soon. By the way, I enabled C&Q and C1E and it is still at a static voltage and clock speed.
