Undervolting Core i3 4150

Go to solution Solved by connorpiper,

Yes, you could. But that CPU is already very efficient. And it would reduce stability. (Would not recommend that)

If your motherboard supports CPU Voltage control with the BIOS.

This might be a nooby question but is there a way to undervolt a Haswell Core i3? I know the multiplier is locked so you cannot overclock it but it would be interesting to undervolt it and maybe get the temps and power consumption down.

Thanks.

I'll try just for the fun of it. But at the slighest hint of instability I'll dial it back to normal.

I ran my i3 4160 -0.1v stable for a week. Now running -0.120v

Your results might be different because not every chip is made equally. Give it a shot.

Here is my topic with some more info.

As for how to undervolt you can do it in the bios but i recommend using a software at first so you don't get locked out from too much undervolting and you will end up needing to reset the cmos.
