SSD or HDD as primary?

Go to solution Solved by Thebman712,

use you ssd as a boot drive, it is incredibly worth it.

just change your defaults from storing on the ssd to storing on the hdd

that is my exact setup now and it works fine for me

store your os and chrome, photo shop ect on the ssd and big games on the hdd

Hello everyone!

I have decision to make:

If I have a big sized game (GTA V [about 60GB]) and other applications/programs/games to store on my system which consists of two drives, a 2TB SATA-III HDD and a Kingston 120GB SSD, which should I choose to store the games and applications and which drive should be for more documents, music, smaller or more unused applications?

I hope that I hear from people with advice soon!

HDD for your 60 GB game, it will be slower but you don't have that much space.

Now I wonder what kind of question is this lol...

HDD's are the biggest bottleneck in any computer anymore. However, having GTA V on your SSD will not improve your gaming experience, it will only improve load times. I would save up for a higher capacity SSD since a 120GB SSD is a pretty small SSD anymore.

OS and general programs go on the SSD. games, files, and large programs go on the HDD. i did this when I only had a 90GB SSD and I had enough space to fit my OS, general programs, and battlefield 3 on the 90GB SSD

Hey zRoger,

I would say store your OS and more demanding and often used applications on the SSD as well as files that require faster access times and faster transfer speeds.
You should be perfectly fine storing everything else on the HDD. :)
You could save space on the SSD for more important things by keeping the downloads on the HDD, move the pagefile there, configure Windows's backup options to take up less space and move the backups to the HDD. Also make sure your recycle bin is always empty and you don't have unnecessary programs on your boot drive. :)
