Cold Start Post Problem

Go to solution Solved by MCZ,

I solved the problem. It may sound weird but the thing that was stopping my PC from booting was a displayport to HDMI adapter that I had plugged in my graphics card. After searching a lot online I've found out that a displayport cable plugged in may interfere with the booting process. After I unplugged the adapter from my PC I had no issues to boot (cold boot or not).

I don't know how a cable/adapter plugged in can interfere with booting but in my case it worked.

Thanks for the reply G33k 4 L1F3.

Hello, I'm having some issues when I try to cold boot my pc. On the surface everything appears to be fine, the computer works, even on load, and if I turn it off via Windows and turn it back on by the front power switch, it boots and everything works.

However, if I turn off the psu swith at the back or unplug my PC from the outlet, when I turn it back on the PC won't post on its first try. A red led on my CPU turns on and when I restart it says that it was an overclocking problem (My CPU is not overclock, it is an i5 4460). My PSU is a Seasonic S12ii 620W Bronze.

Is this normal? should I be worried?

Thanks.

Define turn off with switch. Do you mean from it being booted, to just hard cut the power via the switch? or after its off?

because if you are cutting it while it's on, then this can cause failure of internal components, including causing  the mobo to give false readings.

I'm turning the power switch of the PSU after the PC is off. First I turn if off from windows and then turn off the switch at back of the PSU. But when I turn it back on and try to boot it won't post on the first try. But if I just restart or  only turn the PC off from windows it will boot without any issues.
