Hey, from the selection you presented, either the SC+ or the FTW+. Revised version have an updated heatsink design and a backplate.

Some people don't want to pay extra for factory OC'd cards but it's really only 20$ more over the original version.

Hello! I'm currently looking to upgrade my graphics card. I'm currently running a GTX 760, and with some new games coming to market with more demanding specs, now is the time!

I'm currently looking to upgrade to a GTX 970. I'm not very well versed with graphic cards (nor am I with PC's in general) so I'd really like some input on which I should choose.

Currently I'm looking from the offerings here: http://amzn.to/1Isbdjt

It's important that it be one of the listed cards on the link provided above, because I really want to take advantage of the promotion wherein you get Witcher 3 and the upcoming Batman game for purchasing before June 1st. There are several different models available, so I'm not quite sure which to pick. I'm currently thinking that the Super Clocked ACX 2.0 4.0GB DDR5 model is the way to go. This being based on customer reviews, availability, and price.

To briefly summarize, I only intend to use this card 'as is' straight out of the box. I'm not interested in adjusting any settings on it, running custom bios, whatever. I just want to 'plug and play' as it were, and the main use will be gaming. I believe that my power supply is adequate (750w) and everything else seems fine. If there are any more details that would be useful to provide, please leave me a comment suggesting what information I should add.

Thanks!

If you can order from Newegg, this is currently the best 970 for the money if you're not overclocking. http://pcpartpicker.com/part/gigabyte-video-card-gvn970wf3oc4gd

If you want the best get the g1 gaming from gigabyte.

Honestly G1 Gaming is only if you intend to overclock, if not the regular WF X3 version is currently much cheaper, and all 970s perform very closely out of the box.

If you're only interested in running it "as-is" then there are only three questions:

What is the stock clock speed? (this determines performance, for instance 1100 MHz compared to 1050 MHz is roughly 4.5% faster)

What is the price?

Is it from a brand you trust?

That's all that matters. Remember, all GTX 970s have the exact same chip. The difference between MSI, Gigabyte, Asus, and Powercolor is their cooling solutions, and whether or not they binned the chip. (Okay, and PCB/power delivery) Since those only matter for overclocking, which you will not be doing, none of these are important to you, hence the first 3 and only 3 relevant questions. It also happens that these are the only relevant questions on lower-end cards (GTX 960/R9 280 and below) since they aren't thermally limited and they don't go through a binning process either.

Four questions, actually...  the forth (should have been the first!), what are you upgrading FROM?  You say a GTX 760 but you don't say which one in particular.  Be advised that these latest generation cards (from both AMD and Intel) are HUGE and special consideration must be made to how much room you actually have inside your case.  Some of the three fan models, in particular, are too long to be used in a lot of mid size tower cases without some sort of modification.

System: i5 6600K@3.6 GHz, Gigabyte Z170XP SLI, 2x8 Corsair DDR 3000, Corsair Hydro H60i cooler, Rosewill CAPSTONE 750w Gold PSU, 1x 512GB SSD, 1x 2TB 7200RPM, Windows 10 Pro x64
Display: XFX R9 390 DD, triple 1920x1200 24" HP monitors (5760x1200 @ 60Hz)   Sound: Audio-gd NFB-11 -> AKG K7XX or 2.1 speaker system

I specifically stated that I was looking to purchase from the selection provided on Amazon to take advantage of the promo wherein I get Witcher 3 and Batman for free, which I was going to purchase anyway, so it's essentially $100 off the price of the card for me to shop there. Unless this promotion is running elsewhere (or on other cards) I'd really like to buy it from Amazon.

Alright, so to provide additional details. I'm currently upgrading from a EVGA GeForce GTX760 SuperClocked 2GB GDDR5 256bit

  • Base Clock: 1072 MHz
  • Boost Clock: 1137 MHz
  • Memory Clock: 6008 MHz Effective
  • CUDA Cores: 1152
  • 2048MB GDDR5 256bit Memory

I'm currently operating from : http://goo.gl/qHdf65which is pretty much one of the largest cases I've ever seen, so I should be alright there.

Again, to be clear, I'm specifically interested in purchasing from Amazon to take advantage of the promotion. If the same cards are available elsewhere with a $100 discount or greater (in comparison to Amazon's prices) I'd be willing to shop elsewhere.

    Thanks!
