My I3 2100 is just to weak for Planetside 2 so i need to upgrade.

I already got a 7870 and was planing to get another one.

Do i need 4770k or is 4670K good enough?

I am buying the VI HERO.

Just for gaming? Get a 4670k, if you edit and photoshop and generally more CPU intensive applications, get a 4770k

I know full well that Planetside 2 is a VERY CPU dependent game and I can tell you that you will see a noticeable frame increase if you have an i7 over an i5 (my i7-2600k gets a better framerate than my friend with a similar setup who has a i5-2500k). The i5 will still do very well and I would only spend the extra money on the i7 if you're not stretched for cash.

But the problem is that Planetside 2 is realy CPU havy, do i get any benefits ingame if i buy the 4770k?

Nope, just your i3 that is not doing a good job, trust me I have a i5, it's just great, no need to get an i7.

how many FPS in difference? or is the difference that you can play ultra whit 40+fps in havy battles and he gets 40+fps with mid/high settings in the same battle?

well if u already decided to buy Vi hero only for gaming u should buy 4670k. But if u do editing sometimes and want to the rendering and editing go faster buy 4770.

You can see anywhere from a 1-10 FPS difference but the question is, are you willing to spend an extra $100 for a small improvement? The difference can only be seen in a very small of amount of games.

Not that it's very scientific, but we see about a 10-20% difference during the really nasty battles. He can still run the game pretty much maxed out though, so again, only spend the extra money if you've got it... then overlock... PS2 takes everything it can get from your CPU :P

I say go with the i7 if your second guessing yourself now just go with the superior product so you wont be disappointing down the road. Newegg has some great deals, i just picked up a Z87 MPower and a 4770k for $484 with a $100 combo discount. they aren't offering any combos on that board now but search around and see what you can find.

If you intend to primarily game, go for the 4670K as it is more gaming oriented than the hyper threaded 4770K is intended for heavier workloads such as video editing or 3D work. However a lot of people tend to go for the i7 option as they are unsure on what they might use their PC for in the future. If you have money left over from your budget you could always buy game or spend it on a better graphics card.
