Hi, I'm completely new to building my own PC, I always had a Mac for day to day use (and gaming) but I want to build a gaming only PC. I want to be able to play demanding games Far Cry, Assassins Creed, Watch Dogs, GTA on high settings (I don't care about the ultimate settings) but I want to use this system for some time. One screen gaming, and no 4K for the near future. I'd like to use it for couch gaming (Samsung UE40ES6570) and regular computer gaming. I'm living in EU so euro prices.

Intel Core i5-4460 Boxed

Gigabyte GA-Z97-D3H

Asus STRIX-GTX970-DC2OC-4GD5 > or the MSI GTX 970 100ME (backplate (is it an advantage?), more expensive) or 4G (cheaper, no backplate); Asus coil whine problem real?

Fractal Design Define R5 Zwart

TP-Link TL-WN851ND

Scythe Mugen 4 PCGH Edition

Crucial Ballistix BLS2CP4G3D1609DS1S00CEU

Seasonic M12II 520W

Samsung 850 EVO 250GB

Everything look great.

There seems to be a lot of threads about 970 Strix coil whine, I would probably got for a EVGA, MSI or Gigabyte 970 instead, if you're worried about coil whine.

I would make a couple of suggestions. Yes it will run most of the games listed, but if you want Assassins creed to run bug free, well.....I can think of any number of jokes that could be inserted here.

I also would limit your resolution to 1440p at the maximum. The 970, while it can push 4k, it doesn't do so well, and when you hit that 3.5GB soft limit, you'll notice the dip.

As to the TP-link card, do you need wireless? if you can run a CAT5 cable to the router, then I'd advise it, you'll have a better experience when online gaming. (your ping won't spike if someone decides to microwave a snack.)

Yes I know AC will be a problem no matter what card I put in :)

I have been looking at the 980 to circumvent the 3.5GB limit but I don't think it's worth the extra money for my gaming intentions.

Well I could use a cable but for less than 20 euro I like to put it in to keep my options open and if it is not necessary I would prefer not to run a cable through the living room :).

I'm not playing (competitive) online shooters so I don't know if it is a real problem.
