So here's the gist:

I've planned a new build around the NZXT H440 and doesn't have any room for optical drives. Because of that, I plan on making a bootable USB drive to install Windows 7 Ultimate when I finish building. Right now, I'm running into problems making the bootable drive.

I got the software from my university and it's saved as a PowerIso IMG file. I've tried to convert by renaming it, but it shows no change. I was able to use ImgBurn to convert the image into an ISO file, but when I run the Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool, I keep getting an error towards the end that says not all the files are able to be copied over and that I would have to restart the process.

Does anyone have any suggestions on making bootable USB drives, especially in terms of what free software I could use to make sure all the files I need are in the correct format?

unfortunately, the trial version of powerISO only allows conversions up to 300 MB

also, when i run rufus, i get an error associated with the bootable iso's that are supported by rufus

Sounds like the image is corrupt. Grab another ISO from the internet.
