Hey everyone, I need some tips and help here.

I am a pretty avid League of Legends player, and I am looking for a solid graphics card to put into my PC build.

Mostly I am here to as what the difference between GeForce and Radeon cards is, if it is simply brand/manufacturer or compatibility or what.

Also, if anyone has some recommendations for a $200 or so, (a little more would be fine), graphics card that I can easily run League and games like Borderlands 2 on with strong results, please let me know.

GeForce = Nvidia.

Radeon = AMD.

a GTX 750 ti would be more than enough for league of legends, though for borderlands 2 something such as the r9 280 or gtx 960 would be a better choice.

Specs: CPU - Intel i7 8700K @ 5GHz | GPU - Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming | Motherboard - ASUS Strix Z370-G WIFI AC | RAM - XPG Gammix DDR4-3000MHz 32GB (2x16GB) | Main Drive - Samsung 850 Evo 500GB M.2 | Other Drives - 7TB/3 Drives | CPU Cooler - Corsair H100i Pro | Case - Fractal Design Define C Mini TG | Power Supply - EVGA G3 850W

For just League and Borderlands, I'd recommend buying a used GTX 760 on eBay (Can find for about 100)

Or a brand new GTX 960

(Very similar performance between the two GPUs)

Maybe try for the 4GB version of either card if you can find a good price for it

CPU: R5 5800X3D Motherboard - MSI X570 Gaming Plus RAM - 32GB Corsair DDR4 GPU - XFX 7900 XTX 4GB Case - NZXT H5 Flow (White) Storage - 2X 4TB Samsung 990 Pro PSU - Corsair RM100E Cooling - Corsair H100i Elite Capellix Keyboard Corsair K70 (Brown Switches)  Mouse - Corsair Nightsword RGB

At what settings do you want to play these games?

Try the R9-280x!

amd cards run really hot for gaming(nothing against amd great for price to performance just my room is small and heats up quite easily after and hour or two of gaming) i

personally would switch and go with a 750ti for running league i don't play the game but i setup that card for my brother as an E-Gpu for his laptop and it runs excellent. or

if you want more horse power than a 750Ti go with a 960

Alright, thank you everyone for the advice.

I think I am probably going to do a GeForce 960 to be honest.

This one looks good to me, hit me up if there are better cards of the same style.

Geforce cards are made by Nvidia, and Radeon cards are made by AMD. Both companies make great GPU's. With LoL you could just get a Geforce GTX 750Ti or a Radeon R7-260X, both of which are fantastic cards costing ~$150. At the moment the 260X will cost less but you will have no problems at all running LoL at 1080p. For borderlands if you really want to crank the settings up you might want an R9-280
