I don't think this necessarily belongs in PC gaming. But here goes.

Come up with the PC game of your dreams, it can't already exist, must be a semi-original idea, or what you think is a good variation on an already existing idea.

Example: You can't say "legend of zelda on PC" etc. Must be an at least semi-original idea.

The game I want to make would be like a mix of dying lights gameplay, DayZ's openness, Skyrim/morrowind/oblivion amount of content, and a Metro-ish (so not just zombies, but radiation and mutants) setting. Open PVP yes? But, control the PVP by having the environment be such a large threat that going out and just killing any random person you see becomes a VERY dangerous proposition.

Kill another player? Okay, here comes a crap ton of npc enemies who heard the gun shot, oh, you used a melee weapon? Here comes a crap ton of zombies or mutants smelling you covered in blood who will chase you for a bit. Oh, and watch out for the occasional radiation storm.......

Implement a factions kind of system (like guilds in SWTOR or ESO), along with a good long storyline and raid type stuff (for instance, sneaking into that aging, half blown up nuclear power plant to loot goodies). And you've got gold.

Oh, and did I mention that the in game map, would be all 7 continents, divided by country? That'd be another way to control the PVP, everyone would be so spread out in the beginning. Not doable now, by any means, but 20 years from now? Maybe. Maybe when you and your friends comandeer some kind of ship, to travel across the ocean, you come upon some kind of mysterious derelict military ship.....full of who knows what?  :D

Also, obligatory base building (and not just, capture premade structure, upgrade it via a set path, actual base building) and crafting system.

By all means, comment on each others ideas as well. This is mainly just "you're a game developer with unlimited funding and resources, go nuts" lol

snip

GTA V + Arma III + The Sims + SimCity + Battlefield

Well, you're going on a heist and every bullet counts so it's not going to be easy, 1-3 bullet can kill you so cooperation is very important, in the middle of the heist you need to take a sh*t.... So you can't concentrate and you shoot inaccurately.... The building progress every time, for battlefield, well the building destruction..... You rocket a building and it goes down, it feels awesome! It'll be rebuilt later on.

Mix of Dragon Age Origins storytelling, world building, character interaction, follower system, and choices, with a TLoZ-esq world. By that I mean not medieval, but a world made entirely for the game that can't really fit into any time period. Semi-childish. With Skyrims level of openness, but without Skyrims utter lack of interesting npcs (heh see what I did there? Interesting NPCs? 3DNPCs? huehuehue.) The combat would have to be T3nd0's Perkus Maximus mod for skyrim, I think. I would love at least 2 followers, but with plenty of follower options.

I will expand as I think of more stuff.

  • DA:O Storytelling, world building, character interaction, follower system, and choices.
  • TLoZ-Esq world setting (not medieval, made entirely for a game but can't fit into any time period) With sword and shields, and semi-childish.
  • Skyrim level of openness, without Skyrims lack of interesting NPCs.
  • T3nd0's Perkus Maximus Skyrim mod combat with DAO ability to set if's and when's for what your AI does.
  • At least two followers, but plenty of follower options.
  • Tons and TONS of hidden stuff. Like Morrowind nord king level hidden stuff.
  • TONS OF HIDDEN STUFF.
  • The ability to make and customize a home, wall for wall, pot for pot, table for table. Skyrim modding level.
  • Fully open, 100% un-instanced. (even the dungeons)
  • Dungeons should be unique, difficult, and rewarding. No Skyrim dungeons where each one is the same (despite making mods for myself and having 2k hours in Skyrim I give it a lot of shit)
  • Bosses should be memorable, like Phantom Ganon, bongo bongo, Majoras forms, Goht, Stallord, or Shadow Link.
  • Great magic system, like T3nd0's Perkus Maximus Skyrim mod.
  • Be able to craft your own spells.
  • Be able to apply spells to staffs.
  • Great crafting system (again T3nd0's Perkus Maximus)
  • Make harvesting resources enjoyable and not a grind.
  • Have a multiplayer dungeon-crawler mode. Sorta like DA:I multiplayer.
  • Randomly generated loot as well as hand-placed epic loot. (Morrowind system / Skyrim Mod Morrowloot 4E.)
  • Some randomly generated enemies.
  • Shadow of Mordor nemesis system.
  • Mainly a lack of human killing, semi-childish like most TLoZ games, but with dark undertones like Majoras Mask.
  • You ultimately can rule a castle and have a town form around it in which you are the ruler. Not too free, but pretty decent. You decide the placement of certain things, etc, etc.
  • Made for PC, and well-ported to all consoles.
  • Release the tool used to make the game to allow for epic modding.
  • Reputation system, NPCs remember you, remember what you do, and know you for what you do.
  • A "DM" multiplayer mode in which one player has control of the world in every way and the rest (probably up to 8 people but avg of 4) would go on an adventure within the world 100% separate from main characters.
  • No micro-transactions.
  • ACTUAL huge DLC. Like Shivering Isles. All DLC is an expansion pack.
  • A couple areas that you could teleport to that are sub-dimensions that randomly generate. Randomly generated fairly large pocket dimensions.
  • Good random interactions that don't get stale. NOT SKYRIM DRAGONS OR RIFTS FROM RIFT. Something like your nemesis showing up at an awful time when you are already mid-fight. Or a rewarding one, like a good random event from runescape (one of the few aspects of that game that wasn't awful)
  • FLOATING ISLANDS. I have a floating island fetish in fantasy worlds. Adventures on them, build your own castles on them, build your own personal home on them. All optional but there.
  • Full VR Support.
  • Huge interesting skill trees. (Perkus Maximus)
  • Have original classes for characters be only a guideline, for example if a follower is a paladin they have mostly melee and some healing, but could branch into others if it fit their character. Maybe a way to convince them to learn something else through chat or personal approval rating.
  • You can enter any and every house. If you see a spot you can probably get to it by foot or with magic. Although it may be costly (such as using a once-per-week fly spell)
  • All NPCs act as they should. Go to work. Talk to friends. Eat and drink. Go home. Buy groceries. If you steal groceries they buy more (like oblivion)
  • All buildings fully destructible but hard as shit to do. Burning a house would be easy, but you would be majorly punished. Destroying a castle would be hard, even with magic, and you would become an enemy of the state.
  • No "collect 10 bear asses" quests.
  • Colossal enemies that you can climb on. Shadow of The Colossus style.

The technology isn't there for like 70% of what I want.

I like your idea, now get Bethesda, 4A Games, maybe DICE without EA influence, to collab. :P Give them a 10-15 year development period and hype the shit out of it.

OOOOOH NO. I would have to go the Star Citizen route, crowd funding, steal devs from those companies by offering more money and artistic control (over the things they specifically work on), etc. No way in hell I would have a publishing house with its hand up my arse telling me what to do. I would also have community involvement by getting them to come up with interesting ideas for "raids". Which would in reality be area's you could not even HOPE to get into or beat, without a team of well organized people.

Edit: I forgot to mention, the first trailer, would be set to BOC's Veteran of the Psychic wars.

I'd say a city building game where your city evolves as you play, so it starts as a small communion and grows to become bigger, along with technologies or something like that.

So... almost like Civ 5 but w/out multiple cities, and w/out the attacking etc.

Then eliminate publisher influence and order some hitmen to kill them off .

Sort of like, GTA V with a hint of battlefield 4, and story as immersive and great as MOH: Pacific Assault, driving physics similiar to LFS or Asseto Corsa (as well as proper controller support)

bit of Arma thrown in the mix as well as APB style missions. And the story mode has to be real long, but not boring. Oh, and The whole thing should be with real geographical locations, actually you know what, it should be a miniature earth. Huge, up to 20 times as big as the current GTA V Map. You can actually add in a bit of Tomb Raider style of gameplay as well.

World as its map

Society as it is today

Amazing gunplay

Several choices of starter character (school kid, adult, military man etc.)

dynamic campaign and objectives that change based on what you do (so you could be at school and by the end of the day be america's most wanted hiding with several weapons)

Pretty much a realistic adaptive open world experience  based on the world we know today where if you fail an objective you cant go back like in real life if you fail to do something.
