Amp, producing static.

I have a Optimus STA-20 am/fm stero receiver amp thing. and both the output to speakers and headphones produce static.

anyway to find out if amp is producing static, or if something else around it is giving it static?

Use the speakers, and headphones in question, on other outputs, like your phone...

 

Its most likely the amp, but im not too sure how you could fix it...

 

Dies it get louder with volume, or is it constant?

min, or max volume it the same

 

 

90% its drowned out by the sound, really only here when nothing is playing.

speakers/headset tested on phone, no static.

 

 

however thier is a humming sound that increases with volume.

Ahh, if it isnt that loud, it could just the a particularly high sound stage from the amp, but it is most likely something you can fix/ change...

 

Maybe look at the sound card settings on windows, because ive had times where the loudness equalization setting greatly increased the background static noise...

Possible interference from power cables. Do the cables running to the speakers have large power cables near if so move the hole system away and see if the noise still exists.

i have it connected to a ups under my desk.

So under your desk possibly near your computer near lots of power cables and possibly a 4 way. So lots of things there to give interference. Move the cables away from the speaker cables
