Graphics Card Fried? Fried HDD?

Go to solution Solved by ApolloX75,

All else fails assemble the system on the motherboard box outside of your case with the bare essentials. Try one RAM stick at a time.

Slow and steady, one change at a time. If you change a bunch of things at once and all of a sudden it works, you won't know what the problem was.

Okay community I need help. I just got a new case fan for my PC so I went to install it. While installing I made sure to use a static bracelet and I put all the components on a wooden surface. Sadly after I installed the new case fan and hooked everything up to my monitors and outlet again nothing would show up on the screen. I've double, even triple checked the connections and still nothing happens. The only thing I can think of is the video card being fried or the HDD.

Thanks Guys/Gals!

Did you plug the 6/8pin pcie power connectors into the GPU?

And did you plug the monitor into the GPU?

What motherboard do you have? Also do you have a spare GPU you can use to test?

No this PC  was my first build that didn't rely on the CPU for video.

Well I'd suggest you unplug the fan and see what happens. It should in theory work again.

I'm probably going to get mine's replaced by warranty unless my PC boots up in 15 min.

Well you can do that but I think it would be better to confirm its dead before claiming warranty

Everything? Shouldn't I just RMA the stuff that's broken or will they know if i throw in working items?

Okay, it was just a figure of speech...

Try to identify the problem. Is the GPU fan not spinning? Is the hard drive not spinning (No whirring sound)?
