So I'm new to android with a galaxy s6 and and honestly I'm not the biggest fan of touchwiz (then again, who is). anyway I kinda wanted to load a launcher on the device, maybe the google now launcher or something idk. A nyway I'm hesitant because I kind of like the fingerprint unlock capabilities of the device as well as some other features like the double tap to launch camera command. If I download a launcher, do I lose those functionalities? I'm pretty new to this.

Nope, the launcher only changes the homescreen, so you will still have those features. If you change ROMs then you could loose those features(dependent on ROM)

Edit: I recommend Nova Launcher btw. Its fast, clean, and offers a lot of functionality.

I'm not sure. Only way to find out is to try it. Download your preferred launcher and test your doubts. If it no longer works, it's very easy to uninstall said launcher.

They will still work - launchers are for changing the appearance and features of the homescreen. If for whatever reason, the launcher does screw with something you like, you can uninstall the launcher like a regular app and go right back to touchwiz.
