My first overclock results

so i did my first overclcok today,

I have a pentium g3258 thats a month old,

I got it up too 4.2gHz with a voltage of 1.410

I am using the stock cooler at max fan settings,

I ran aeida64 for 10 mimutes and passed with flying colours, 72 celcius was the highest.

Then i ran the prime95 "torture test" and it got the max temp of 76 celcius

In far cry 4 it runs around 66-70 celcius at constant near 60fps with medium settings while recording on dxtory.

Overall i can see a MAJOUR performance increase, so much so, that i am going to buy a 212evo and try to ramp it even higher.

I am very happy with how it turned out.

Is 4.2gHz at 1.410 volts normal? Is it bad? Is it better than normal?

I don't have much experience with that CPU, but I am pretty sure 1.4 volts is not safe for hasswell based chips.

It looks like people get ~4.1-4.1 on less than 1.2v from a few quick google searches. I  REALLY think you want to back that down a lot. Have you tried to test stability with less volts? Because that is a lot, and seriously could damage your chip

1.41 is crazy high for that clock, on my 4690k im at 4.2 with the base voltage

Do your do diligence, or you will result in fried stuff. Looks like people on there say keep it under 1.3 to be safe, if you are a risky person you can push to 1.35, but personally I wouldn't. You should be able to hit 4 GHz on just about stock volts, which is like 1.1 isn't it?

Like it was posted before, over 1,35V is "bad" for Haswell chips and can damage your chip beyond repair

its not great, temps are decent even with stock cooler. we like to keep volts to >1.35v temps are the main concern though. i would try 4.1 with 1.35v, also test much longer than a few mins, like 4-8 hours, i use occt. prime95 can cause higher volts depending on the version you are using.

edit, 1.218 is good for 4.2, this is at load?

You may have to play with some of the other voltages, what is your RAM speed? There is a lot to overclocking, it takes a lot of research. Like, first time I tried to overclock I spent at least 30 hours reading and watching videos.

500 MHz...? That isn't possible. The slowest DDR3 is 1066, standard is 1333 or 1600.

Wait, what do you mean all the above? I know it shows 1.21v, but is that when your PC is at idle, or when its in a game? Or when you are running a stress test?

 

Also like others said, you have to stress test on AIDA 64 for AT LEAST 8 hours to call it stable. 10 mins means nothing, just a way to quick check if it may or may not be stable.

That doesn't make any sense. It should DEFINITELY fluctuate based on load. I say use CPUz to monitor volts, and check them when you are actually running AIDA 64. Or, use that program, and start running AIDA right now, and report back with the load volts, because that isn't correct.

People can hit 4.5GHz @ 1.3V. Below 1.35V is recommended. D:
