I keep watching shows on one monitor while playing GTA V on the other on max settings and Netflix, Youtube, etc keeps lagging for a while every now and then. I've tried lowering my graphical settings but it still does it somewhat. My RAM usage is at about 90%, would upgrading from 8GB of RAM to 16 or more help this?

I'm also wondering what RAM to choose? I've never had to upgrade my RAM and I just have generic Corsair RAM, it doesn't even have much of a heatsink on them, they're very basic. I can see very expensive RAM and don't really understand what warrants paying $150+ for RAM?

Thanks

I'd just get another pack of what you've already got as it basically guarantees compatibility.

Specs: CPU - Intel i7 8700K @ 5GHz | GPU - Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming | Motherboard - ASUS Strix Z370-G WIFI AC | RAM - XPG Gammix DDR4-3000MHz 32GB (2x16GB) | Main Drive - Samsung 850 Evo 500GB M.2 | Other Drives - 7TB/3 Drives | CPU Cooler - Corsair H100i Pro | Case - Fractal Design Define C Mini TG | Power Supply - EVGA G3 850W

16 gigs would help. Web browsing requires more ram. Also, some ram is more expensive than others because of their speed. the speed can range from 1600mhz to 3000mhz. 16gigs of 1866 DDR3 ram should be good.

I bought the RAM in 2011 so I'd rather get some upgraded, faster RAM that looks quite a bit nicer. Alright I'll take a look at 1866. I'm assuming going up to 32GB of RAM is overkill for gaming and mainly for people doing rendering?

Yeah, 32 gigs is a little bit overkill. 16 should be enough.

What is your CPU usage at?

If you're playing GTA Online, while streaming, I can almost guarantee there's gonna be some buffering/lag involved. Maybe trying turning down the resolution on Netflix/Youtube?

Also do you know how fast your internet is?

My CPU usage's at around 30%. I have an i7-2600K running at 4.6GHz. My internet speed is 250mbps.

Checking Canada Computers, the cheapest 1866MHz, 1.5V (that's the voltage my mobo says it supports) that's 16 (2x8GB) is $150..is that price not high? I got my 8GB of RAM for around $40 in 2011..

I think $150 is good. 16gigs here in america is around $100-200.

What's the difference between these 3 models?

Two are CL9 and one's CL10 and they're almost all the same price. I know these are timings but what difference does that make?

Also faced such problem some days before. Got 16 (4x4gb) kingston's fury (1600mhz), works like a charm and easily clocks to 1866.

CL9 is faster but not by much. I would get the Vengeance Pro.

That's a decent price... Although, where the hell do you live?! I live in Canada, too, yet I get 19 down and .5 up...

Sounds like it's your RAM for sure though.

I want to grab the Vengeance Pro Red but my whole system has a green aesthetic, is there any green RAM? I can't seem to find a single one!

There are some Corsair LP but only 1600mhz. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233577

you can use the corsair vengeance low-pro greenies:

there is always plasti-dip paint..

aww you beat me to it.

I'm in Ottawa, I had Bell forever and it was $90 for 15down, 1up with unlimited bandwidth. Rogers just upgraded their lines in our area so I have 250down, 30up and unlimited bandwidth for $70 the first 3 months and it'll be $90 after that.
