MXL990 XLR to Phantom Power to USB?

Go to solution Solved by SiderGame,

UPDATE: This is a bit embarrassing, In windows settings, for some odd reason, it defaulted to (Reduce All Inputs by 80%, so i unchecked that option and now everything is perfect :) Thank You guys for the help

Hello there,

i have recently purchased a MXL 990 XLR version.

I have been having trouble with the mic being too quite for people to hear me.

I currently have it Mic-XLRtoXLR-Phantom Power-XLRto3.5mm

I was wondering if i purchased XLR to USB( http://www.amazon.com/HDE-Female-Cable-Instruments-Microphones/dp/B0050CEEIW/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top?ie=UTF8) it that would fix my issues.

OR, what could be causing the issues, my mic seems to receive audio, but just very quietly.

Thank You

(I do Have a Phantom Power Supply)

You need something to inject phantom power into the connection, a single usb connection isn't enough to power that mic.

Something like this: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/422078-REG/Behringer_PS400_PS400_Phantom_Power_Supply.html

Specs: CPU - Intel i7 8700K @ 5GHz | GPU - Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming | Motherboard - ASUS Strix Z370-G WIFI AC | RAM - XPG Gammix DDR4-3000MHz 32GB (2x16GB) | Main Drive - Samsung 850 Evo 500GB M.2 | Other Drives - 7TB/3 Drives | CPU Cooler - Corsair H100i Pro | Case - Fractal Design Define C Mini TG | Power Supply - EVGA G3 850W

If its sending 48V its enough, also dont buy those xlr to usb cables they just dont work well.

You need something like this to do usb to XLR correctly

The Dick of the audio page!
