GPU not working at all?

IreMinMon
Go to solution Solved by AnnoyedShelf,

My GPU doesn't appear to be working. GPU-Z recognises it but as you can see in one of my attachments but device manager won't find it. I installed drivers from CD that came with the card but Catalyst control centre only recognises the CPU. Oh yeah and the monitor is attached directly to the hdmi port on the GPU. It works but in 1920x1080 instead of full 2560x1080. What am I doing wrong? It seems it is attached properly if it can carry the data off motherboard...

>installed drivers from the CD

NEVER do that.  Always install the drivers from the AMD website.

AMD FX 6350, Sapphire R9 285, Gigabyte 970 motherboard. I guess everything else matters very little.

I guess I'll try that, I doubt it'll just start working.

Oh my god that actually fucking worked. I can't thank you enough sir, thought AMD was decent enough to know how to put a driver on a CD appears I was wrong.

It's not AMD that puts the driver on the CD.  It's the manufacturer.  and could you set my answer as solved?
