My first dual card build - 290X CF

Hello everyone! My first post in LTT forums.

I will be getting my second windforce 290x in a week, and I am looking forward to max out my games in 1440p at nice and steady 60 fps.

So, is there anyone here who has experience with crossfire and particularly 290x cf? Driver issues/settings, cf support in games, installation procedures etc.

I will be installing a 120 or 140 fan in the side door of my Define R5 to exhaust hot air, and I will have 2x140 fans in the front for cold air intake. It won't be quiet, but that's not a problem.

The specs of the rig is as follows

i5 3,2GHz 4 core with beQuiet tower cooler

Msi z87 mpower max ac

2x4 GB ram 1600mhz

A couple of SSD's

Fractal design define r5

2x Gigabyte windforce oc R9 290X

EVGA supernova 850 G2 (850w gold)

Arma 2 OA doesn't work very well with crossfire.

PSU will be cutting it close, it should work but it's close though.

Yes. I'm thinking that I'll have around 100-150 watts to spare, but it should be sufficient. Did read guru3d and anandtech for power measurement, and they peaked around 730w with overclocked processors.

I will add that the games in question are Dragon Age Inquisition and GTA V.
