Hey everyone,

I am looking into add a second 980 to my system and I would like some advice on power consumption.

I am currently using a 650W PSU with my i7-4790k overclocked to 4.5Ghz + 1 GTX 980, which runs no problem at all.

According to the list I have built on PC Part Picker (https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/Jared0430/saved/#view=rsBYcf), the estimated power consumption after adding in a second 980 is 541W, but that seems a bit low to me.

Do you guys think I would be completely fine with my 650W PSU or would I need to upgrade?

Thanks for the help :)

P.S I have probably put the thread in the wrong place haven't I? Mods, I do apologise!

Well depedning on the voltage on your core of your CPU and grafixcard(s) you might run into some issues because as far as I know the 980 can consume about +/-250 and two will tehrefore be around 500.

A stock 4790k is around 90 watts but I don't know your exact OC values. I think for others to help you the would need these too.

As far as i can tell an overclocked 4790 can consume way more than teh remaining 650W.

650W is all you need for 970 SLI, I can't imagine the 980 SLI is much more if at all.

CPU: G3258 @ 4GHz GPU: Gigabyte GTX 960 OC RAM: 8GB G.Skill DDR3 1600 SSD: Corsair LS 120GB Case: Antec GX500 Mouse: Logitech G402 Keyboard: Razer Blackwidow Headphones: Shure SRH440 Microphone: That Zalman Zm-Mic1 that everyone recommends but noone uses

Remember when the R9 280 was the HD 7950? Pepperidge Farm remembers.

I have to admit, I used the Gigabyte EasyTune software to overclock, here's a screenshot of all of the settings, hopefully that helps.
