Hey Everyone,

This is my first gaming PC, I will mostly use it for 1080p gaming, can you guys give me some suggestions on how to make it better please? http://pcpartpicker.com/p/7vVj7P<-- The build

As far as i know, the r9 280(x) has a better price/performance ratio than the 960.

I would personally go for AMD at this GPU price point, unless you're picky about power consumption.

When in doubt: C4

Get haswell i3 and H81 MBO.

Get better SSD.

And get R9 280x instead of GTX960 unless you plan to record game footage.

I have one more question. Why is intel better than AMD for gaming? Linus made a build guide i which he used the FX 6350. Did he only use it because the vid was sponsored by AMD?

Most likely. Also, look at the date of the video. AMD was a good price to performance option a few years ago. Today, that's not the case.

These guys are right. The 960 isn't a very good choice for its price. AMD cards are a much better option for that price point. I would also support the choice for an Intel CPU over an AMD because... Well... Intel is just better. If you can afford a 1150 socket board, you can leave yourself some upgrade ability for the future. I would suggest Intel's Pentium G3258 thingy. I don't know what socket it is though, but I know it is a very good CPU for the price, and you can over clock the living daylights out of it. All of the suggestions by others are pretty good though. It usually comes down to budget and preference.

I went with the core i5 because I want to play Far Cry 4 which needs those four cores.

Another compromise if you wanna shave even more money to put into other things is to go with a hybrid drive.

I'm using one. While it's obviously not going to be as fast as an SSD, it's an elegant compromise. Boot times are still a far sight faster than a standard 7200rpm drive. That being said, I think that build is pretty well balanced.

So, if I remove the SSD and replace the HDD with like a WD Black, would that work?

Wouldn't the R9 285 be better than the R9 280?

Yes and yes. Though iI don't know how cost effective the black editions are vs the regular blues.

But you can do without an SSD altogether to save money.
