I remember back in the older days of gaming when I used to set MSAA to like 8X and it gave me the sharpest and smoothest image ever but now even in GTA 5 when I set MSAA to 8X it hardly looks like 2X used to. I don't know if it has to do with newer games and their deferred rendering systems or what but MSAA is really disappointing.

For me it seems the only way to perfectly remove aliasing is to use Nvidia DSR with a tiny bit of FXAA.

FXAA Master Race.

I'm actually not sure. Maybe it just the way it smooth's the edges...

Yeah no i dont get anything that you are on about. Might just be certain game engines that you are using, ive not tried 8xmsaa yet as it causes issues with amd gpus on gta

But it used to look so good. I can only use FXAA on super sampled images.

it should be illegal to say that, FXAA is a blurry mess, MLAA injectors ftw

For me it looks exactly the same as 4X except it adds a huge performance hit.

Oh god, FXAA is HORRIBLE.

it's not bad if you use Nvidia DSR but at native resolution it's pretty ugly.

If you zoom to the top left of the picture the 4x MSAA actually looks better lol.

If you look at the original it's noticeable that the 8x towers support beam looks more jaggy.

Could be that 8x isn't supported yet like AO

Games should support 31.4x10^-1 antialiasing, because squares have sharp corners.
