MOBO - Asus    Crosshair IV Formula

As well as a copy of Windows 8.1

I'm curious how well a computer like this is expected to run, it's been some time since I've used the parts but I've kept them in great condition.

It'll be a moderate gaming rig at 1080p expect med-high settings at 40-60-ish frames

One day I will have my GTX 970. One day. PC specs are at my profile.

Not sure how to check what part works with what? Check out my compatibility guide!

My room mate used that exact build in his main year for 3 years. It is a solid processor chip that runs rather cool at 30c.On the negitive side the they do consume a bit of power. Most records I have seen on an overclock are about 4.2-4.4, however we were never able to hit higher than a 4.0 stable. The motherboard also supports 32 gb of ram. even though newegg says 16gb. if you are going to upgrade any of the other parts I would say go for a better power suppy or a better power effecient GPU.

If you always do what you always did you will always get what you always got.

Woooo! That's plenty for now. Also, I'm missing almost alllll the cables, because I used them with my new PC build, and the old PC that had those parts and the cables was given to me by my awesome geeky father. I'm curious how I can get the cables necessary for this build, and what cables I would need :S

Keep in mind you're talking about a card that's worse than a GTX 750

As to the gaming preformance it was able to game well with a 5750. hitting 30-45 fps. with a 270x in the system there was a major system boost.

According to this, IT IS AT THE EXACT LEVEL AS THE 750

What power supply would you recommend?

I think that 500W should be fine for a while

That's my bad was looking at benchmarks at Anand saw the first 3 siding the 750 by a 30% margin then skipped the rest which were equal or siding with the 5850 slightly.

OP I'd say mid graphics around 40-50 roughly, of course depends on the game.

I would say go with something higher up there. My roommate blew a 650 watt in his system while gaming one day. so dont go cheep on one when you get it. It will help you save power over time as well.

You dont need to get something more than this as long as you are not going to cross fire and add 6 more hdd. Also consider an sdd. They help boost the system quite a bit.

If you always do what you always did you will always get what you always got.
