Improve Mic Volume / Remove static

So my ModMic V4 arrived today and i gotta say that the audio quality is great, however, the sound is really low. I can boost the volume with the windows amplifier thingie which makes it sound really great (volume and quality). However, as expected, it also added some background static which is really annoying. So my question to you audiophiles is: Is there a way to either amplify the sound without the static or removing the static i currently have? Without having to buy a soundcard that is. (currently using onboard audio on my crappy mobo.)

Thanks.

check your recording devices under sound and try enabling noise suppression. That removed most static for me. Also make sure your mic is plugged into the back of your computer, and not into the front header.

So it seems like a USB soundcard is minimum 25$ here (probably due to shipping, tax, customs, etc). So I think that the best option is to get a soundcard anyway. Im thinking of this one even though it's quite old.

Seems like Linus did a review of it a few years ago, which made me lol because the quality of the video is... well.. see for yourself :P
