Hey guys I'm looking into moving into a logical RAID, meaning not using a dedicated RAID card.

I'm thinking about RAID1 with two 2TB drives being managed by the CPU from the 6Gb/s ports.

My current system:

3570K @4.4

P8Z77-V Pro

PSU is plenty enough.

That is all that really matters isn't it?

My question is, will I see a performance hit in terms of CPU & RAM usage?

DO I need a RAID card in-order avoid that? if so which one would you recommend?

It will be very minimal, RAID1 doesn't hit performance like RAID5 would.

You could use the onboard controller, but I'd recommend FlexRAID. Use this link if you want to learn more, loony put it together and it's fantastic.

Not 100% finished yet tough :(

I wanted to finish it in the weekend but had no time for that.
