1. Budget And Location:

I have a budget of $3100 Canadian but I'd prefer to use as little as possible, and as my name and currency might suggest, I live in Canada.

2. Aim:

The aim of this build is heavy gaming at a 1080p resolution, while also being used for some video editing and content creation, preferably with a black and red theme, although that may change given the circumstances. Sadly, although most may say luckily, I'm going to be building this system around September or October of this year, so I suppose I'd make a few changes to the builds that get designed now (Add an AMD R9 390(x) and maybe even upgrade to the next generation of Intel processor).

3. Monitors:

With this build, I'd need two monitors to be included, one 1080p TN panel monitor for gaming, and one 16:10 (1920x1200?) IPS panel for my editing and content creation. I have neither of these right now, so I need both to be included in the build.

4. Peripherals:

I will need all peripherals with this build, but I'm only really looking for headphones and and a good mouse that preferably matches my red and black colour scheme, while also not looking too gamer-y. The keyboard I've decided on, in case you were wondering, is the KUL ES-87 with Cherry MX Clears. It seems like the best (And almost only) board with Cherry MX Clears in my price range, and based on the reviews I've seen, works very well.

5. Why are you upgrading:

I am upgrading because I'm tired of being a console kiddy, and my crappy old dell laptop that works great for browsing media and the internet, doesn't do such a good job running games with its nearly first generation Intel Graphics. I felt that not being able to run MInecraft was pretty much screaming for an upgrade. But, thank you all for your help in advance, and I'll be back to check this thread at roughly 3pm eastern time, as that is when I get off work.

SNIP.

for $3100 you could be looking at 1440p or maybe even 4k also why do you want a TN monitor for gaming? you could just get a single 27" 144hz IPS monitor, and a 980 or something

Because I don't really feel like wasting nearly $900 on a single monitor, my current financial situation doesn't allow for that. And if you can find a single 27" IPS panel that has a response time of <5 seconds, I'll definitely consider it.

EDIT: I was clearly in the wrong about what I was talking about, there are many monitors that fit that criteria, and I apologize for replying in such a rude manner.

I appreciate the quick reply, I'll definitely take that build into consideration! It seems pretty solid, and at that price I can always add another monitor later, and have plenty of room to buy peripherals.

yeah just threw it together in 30 secs, but give a rough idea of what you can get for your money :)

I'd suggest planning later. ~2-3 days at most before you buy. Parts and prices change frequently so any parts list you come up with now will likely be obsolete by the time you're ready to buy.

If you ever need help with a build, read the following before posting: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/3061-build-plan-thread-recommendations-please-read-before-posting/
