First things first, here are my specs:

Asus P8P67 Deluxe

i72600K @ 4.3GHz

GTX 580 @ stock

2x4GB Corsair Dominator 1600MHz

Corsair AX850W Gold.

A few weeks back I cleaned my rig, which at the time had 2 2GB Dominator GT modules rated at 1866MHz, which I originally had 4 of. When I first installed my rig I couldn't get it to get stable with all 4 modules installed, assumed one of the removed modules were broken and just left it alone. After cleaning it I decided to give it another shot, since I was getting tired of having a constant shortage of RAM. I put all 4 in and it worked decently well, with the occassional crash that didn't bother me that much. At the same time I overclocked my 2600K from stock to 4.3GHz, ran it on the CPU heavy setting in Prime95 for 12 hours without any errors. When it came to testing my RAM it crashed in 15 minutes. I moved on, decided to get new RAM and a few weeks later (yesterday) I picked up my new modules. The issue persists, and I can't for the love of me figure out what is crashing my system. I tried underclocking the RAM all the way to 1066MHz, switching RAM sockets in case it was the MoBo giving me issues, nothing works and Memtest gives me 0 errors. When I'm not stressing it I crash one to two times a day on average, which could be worse, but I just want it completely working.

Thanks for the help in advance,

Hi Drasath,

Which OS are you running?

I just have a couple ideas to weed out the simple stuff first.

Have you checked to see if you have the latest Bios/UEFI running?

Are you running the RAM using the XMP Profile in the Bios/UEFI? If not, try turning it on and use Profile 1.

Do you have AI Suite installed? If so, disable/uninstall it and do your test again

Have you tried disabling your startup apps?

Windows 7 64bit, sorry for not mentioning that.

I've never updated my BIOS since I built the rig.

I had it on manual, changed to XMP, will run a test as soon as I've written this out.

Do not have AI suite unless it came with the system somehow.

Haven't disabled startup apps as in this guide: http://www.howtogeek.com/74523/how-to-disable-startup-programs-in-windows/, but I don't have any programs start automatically on boot, don't know how you asked the question.

Gonna run a quick prime95 again and see if there's any improvement.

Question regarding the startup apps: Is it safe to untick everything? Some things seemed more or less essential, like realtek sound and USB3.0 monitor.

Check the hide windows stuff box then everything there is safe to disable for troubleshooting, although obviously as you pointed out, it will disable loads of stuff like the audio. If it fixes it, turn stuff on one at a time until it stops, then you know what's broken.

However, it's most likely that your memory slot or the motherboard controller that's broken, so try with 2 modules, and then swap the slots to see which one is broken. Your board's probably beyond repair though.

I'm using 2 modules now, and did switch them without any results. I just don't understand why this would come along at the same time that I changed some stuff and OC'd my CPU, or how that would break a part of my motherboard that was previously working.
